How model Lindsay Ellingson gets so glowy
To call Lindsay Ellingson’s modeling experience “impressive” is an understatement. She’s walked for Prada, Dior, Chanel, Valentino, and Gucci, plus there was her stint as a Victoria’s Secret Angel… and that’s the Cliffs Notes version of her resume.
These days, though, the 33-year-old has traded the runway for a more entrepreneurial career path. In 2014, she co-founded Wander Beauty, a collection of cruelty-free makeup and skin care products designed with travel in mind. The products are multi-tasking, easy to use, and endlessly versatile. (Basically, if you want to look like you’ve snoozed 10 hours when you’re stepping off a sleepless red-eye flight, Wander’s got you.)
Here, from her home base of New York City, Ellingson gives Rose Inc. a look into her a.m./p.m. beauty routines—and lets us in on the rituals, products, and guilty pleasures she can’t live without.
What time do you wake up?
I wake up pretty early, usually around 7 a.m. I like to have quiet time to myself to set some goals for the day.
Clothingwise, what do you sleep in?
Cozy Calvin Klein boy shorts and oversized t-shirts.
Is anyone in bed with you? If so, who?
My husband, Sean, but cuddling right next to me is our cockapoo, Carly.
What’s your first order of business in the morning?
I put on the tea kettle and make myself a large glass of warm water with fresh lemon to keep my body alkaline and my skin glowing. Then I walk Carly and grab my favorite iced almond latte from the local coffee shop. Finally, I shoot content for Wander Beauty—sunrise lighting is always the best.
"Sunrise lighting is always the best."
What’s the first thing you do with your phone?
I delete all spam emails so that my inbox doesn’t feel overwhelming.
What’s the first thing you read each morning?
Texts from my sisters. We have an ongoing group chat where we keep in touch everyday.
What’s on your bedside table?
A diffuser with lavender oil, night serums, a picture of my niece, Angel Cards, and a candle from my wedding.
What’s your favorite thing about your bedroom?
I love my bed. It’s custom-made with huge storage drawers, a cream linen tufted headboard, and embellished with Swarovski crystal pulls.
What do you eat and drink for breakfast?
I drink Sakara’s Beauty Tea in the mornings and make a quick breakfast, usually oatmeal with fresh berries. If I’m in a rush, I’ll indulge in a blueberry donut.
Who’s the first person you speak to in the morning?
Usually my dog, Carly, since she’s right in my face.
How do you mentally prepare yourself for the day?
On the way to work, I listen to podcasts. I like Inspire Nation, but I love anything that keeps me inspired and dreaming big; it helps me prepare for my day.
Shower, bath, or do you do it later in the day?
I shower at night. It’s faster, and I like the texture of my hair in the morning after sleeping on my damp hair.
What is your morning skincare regime?
I gently cleanse my skin with Crealine by Bioderma. Then I press a few drops of SK-II Facial Treatment Essence in my skin, which always gives me a nice glow. Next, I use Ildi Pekar Tissue Repair Serum—it’s enriched with CBD oil, which helps to calm any redness or inflammation. I hydrate with Wander Beauty Glow Ahead Face Oil. The raspberry seed oil acts as a natural sunscreen and evening primrose oil instantly absorbs, leaving my skin more bouncy and ready for makeup.
What are your A.M. hair vibes?
I recently cut my hair and have been experimenting with so many different products to get that effortless, beachy texture. I find Briogeo Conditioning Spray mixed with Ouai Wave Spray gives me that vibe without needing a styling tool.
What makeup products do you use on a daily basis?
I start my beauty routine with Wander Beauty Frame Your Face Micro Brow Pencil, which mimics the shape of hair for a microblading-like effect. I wear Baggage Claim Gold Eye Masks for about 10 minutes. The warmth of the gold foil helps the serum to absorb deeper into my skin for an instant refreshed look. While I’m masking, I apply two coats of our Unlashed Mascara, which is my favorite volumizing formula—it doesn’t flake or smudge on me throughout the day. To conceal imperfections, I apply Dualist Matte and Illuminating Concealer. When we created Dualist, I was inspired by my years spent backstage in the makeup chair; these two formulas are all I need for that no-makeup-makeup look. Next, I add a pop of color and glow to my cheeks, eyes and lips with On-the-Glow Blush and Illuminator in Bare. The dual-ended stick is my go-to multitasker that works like a pretty filter for my face. I set my makeup and refresh throughout the day with Glow Getter Mist. The Icelandic glacier water in Glow Getter’s formula calms my skin.
At what time do you shift to evening mode?
Around 7 p.m., I start to unwind.
Finish this sentence: In the evening, you can find me…
In the sauna. My husband and I relax inside for about 15 minutes. It’s a great phone-free moment for us to talk about our days.
If you’re going out, how do you change your look?
I always amp up my eyes. I love a retro smoky eye. Jean Shrimpton and Brigitte Bardot give me endless beauty inspiration.
What’s your favorite way to relax and unwind in the evening?
I like to take a hot yoga class. The warmth of the studio relaxes away all the tension from my day and the workout helps me to sleep better at night.
What TV show are you currently watching?
Sharp Objects. I love a dark mystery.
"Jean Shrimpton and Brigitte Bardot give me endless beauty inspiration."
What’s the last film you saw?
Avengers: Infinity War. I llove Groot!

I love a hearty yet fresh and healthy dinner. We often stop at Sweetgreen or Dig Inn for quick, healthy meals that taste amazing. Or we cook at home using Green Chef.
What’s your secret evening guilty pleasure?
Watching Housewives in my cozy sweats. It’s sometimes the only way to shut my brain off.
What’s your favorite way to take a look from morning to moonlight?
For me, the perfect look always starts with beautiful, glowing skin. In the evening, my skin usually needs a little refresh, so I take off all of my complexion makeup and treat my skin with Wander Beauty Lift Off Peel Off Mask for 20 minutes. The mix of superfruits and kaolin clay help to gently lift impurities and bring back the radiance to my complexion. From there, I smudge a little bronze eyeliner into my lash line, add another coat of mascara, and define my lips with a nude liner to make the look a little more sultry.
Do you prefer an end-of-day bath or shower?
I prefer a shower. It’s just more efficient and I like to wash my hair every night, which is always awkward to do in a bath.
What is your evening skincare routine?
I cleanse in the shower with Erno Laszlo Sensitive Oil Cleanser and then exfoliate with Dr. Lancer Skin Polish (my go-to for an at home microdermabrasion effect). As soon as I step out of the shower, I apply Dr. Devgan Platinum Hyaluronic Serum to retain moisture. I finish off with Wander Beauty Extended Stay Hydrating Overnight Mask. It’s lightweight, so it doesn’t make a mess of my pillow. Plus, the mix of watermelon and rose flower oil leaves my skin luminous in the morning.
What is your evening hair routine?
I wash my hair with Playa Everyday Shampoo. It’s a gentle coconut-derived cleanser which I love because it’s hydrating enough to use on its own, without conditioner, and it literally smells like vacation. I comb a few drops of Oribe Gold Lust nourishing hair oil through my ends and let my hair air-dry. If I want extra texture in the morning, I add a few braids and sleep on them overnight. I always sleep on my Slip Silk pillowcase to prevent bed head and sleep crease.
What is the last beauty product you use at night?
The last beauty product I use at night is my gua sha face tool, which I use to give myself a lymphatic massage to define my features.

I turn on my diffuser, set my room temp to 68, turn my phone on silent, and have a moment of gratitude for the things that happened during my day.

Weeknights I’m in bed at 10 p.m. and asleep by 10:30 p.m. because I feel like my best self with eight hours of sleep. On the weekends, I love a night out with my husband and friends, so I just sleep in!
