September is coming in hot
FROM THE LAPTOP OF ROSIE HUNTINGTON-WHITELEY:
As a teenager, for my birthday I’d always ask my parents and friends for subscriptions to my favourite magazines. Every month, I’d excitedly await for new issues of magazines like Vogue or ELLE to arrive in the post. The moment they did, I’d rush up to my bedroom, sprawl across my bed, and devour every single page. I’d spend hours poring over every image from the fashion campaigns, the backstage beauty shots, the celebrity style icons, and the beautiful editorials. Then I’d carefully cut out my favourite images and arrange them all over my bedroom walls and dream about one day getting to work in the fashion industry. For me, I was enamored by the mystique and the creativity that went into creating these iconic images, the clothes, the styling, the makeup, the hair. I didn’t know then what part of the industry I wanted to work in. All I knew was that I wanted in!
Nowadays, my first glimpse of a September cover happens on social media—but this time of year remains special to me. I always look at September as a second beginning of the year: Students go back to school, adults return to work after vacation, and we all get the opportunity for a fresh start. All of us at Rose Inc. have been feeling those hit-refresh vibes, as you’ll see in this month’s stories and photography.
"I always look at September as a second beginning of the year..."
To begin, we’ve done a fall edit of the best hair and makeup trends, translating them from the runway to real life. So if you’re ready to revamp your lipstick wardrobe or tweak your skin-care regime for the cooler weather ahead, you’ll want to hear what our favourite beauty insiders have to say. Naturally, we’ll have some brilliant ideas for hair, too. How could we not?
And if you’re like me, you love a peek into the beauty routines of other women. So I think you’ll enjoy our visit with Instagram It girl Stephanie Shepherd, whose ace skin-care game definitely deserves all the 💯emojis. You’ll also want to take notes from model and entrepreneur Lindsay Ellingson—her travel-inspired beauty line is quite clever, and so is she.
Speaking of travel, I’m off to NYC as Fashion Month begins—then traveling to Europe for more runway trendspotting. Seeing the collections up close is even more thrilling than my fourteen-year-old self dreamed it could be, and being able to share my experiences with you is half the fun. Here’s to a smart, stylish season ahead. May it be your most beautiful autumn yet.
P.S. As ever, I’m eager to know what you want to see on Rose Inc. Drop us a note at firstname.lastname@example.org.
